Chinese New Year is an important celebration and a time for giving. A perfect New Year gift, this vividly coloured coin combines two traditional symbols of good fortune in one image – a red dragon in the shape of a Chinese knot. The dragon is a well reconigsed symbol of wealth, strength and power. Knots have been used for centuries as good luck charms and continue to be widely used today for decorative purposes. The coin’s reverse also features lanterns, one of the most popular decorations at Chinese New Year, a temple, the Chinese characters for ‘Happy New Year’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
This coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver.
The reverse of the coin features a red dragon and knot design with yellow, cerise and white elements.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of these Chinese New Year Dragon 2018 1oz Silver Coins.
Each coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu and features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2018 year-date on the obverse.
The coin is housed in a clear latex display case with a black frame and packaged in a themed shipper and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate.
