These exceptional designs by Elise Martinson for the Australian Bush Babies series portray five beautiful baby animals, set against a background of Australian flora.
These $1 coins are struck by The Perth Mint from high quality aluminium bronze.
With five coins in total, each coin depicts an irresistible image of a baby animal typically found in the Australian bush including the possum, kookaburra, platypus, echidna, and wombat. Each of the five coin designs also include The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, a friendly Australian insect and delicately frosted representations of Australian bush flowers.
Each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. Each obverse portrays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the 2013 year-date.
Each coin is housed in a beautifully designed envelope which displays an official Australia Post stamp. The possum collectable features a $6.45 stamp, the kookaburra includes a $1.70 stamp, the platypus includes a $4.65 stamp, the echidna includes a $2.60 stamp, and the wombat features a $1.75 stamp. Each stamp replicates the coin designs of each delightful bush baby and is postmarked for the first day of issue. In addition, every envelope is endorsed with Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity and official number.
