In 2022 Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will become the first British monarch to mark 70 years on the throne. In honour of her Platinum Jubilee, our 2022 Sovereign Collection features the heraldic symbols that form Her Majesty’s official coat of arms.

The 2022 Double Sovereign Gold Proof Coin features the crowned Lion of England, the ‘King of Beasts’, representing strength, pride and courage. It is one of Her Majesty’s oldest heraldic symbols, dating back to King Richard I, the ‘Lionheart’, in the 12th Century. It is also one of The Queen’s Beasts, ten imposing sculptures representing the lineage of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that watched over her Coronation at Westminster Abbey in 1953.
