And while it may be adept at snatching food from your barbeque or picnic table, the kookaburra enjoys a varied menu in the wild - insects, earthworms, frogs, fish, mice, and even snakes.

Gilded kookaburra design

The coin portrays a high relief representation of a kookaburra in flight with a snake in its talons. Adding further to the coin’s spectacular appearance, the kookaburra and the outer ring of the coin are meticulously gilded in 24 carat gold.  The reverse also includes the inscription ‘KOOKABURRA’, a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary, and the coin’s weight, purity and 2024 year-date.
